The Huawei Watch 2 made its first appearance at the MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2017, back in February. After almost six months, the Chinese company’s wearable has landed in India. It seems, Huawei is planning to take the cake before the newer generation Apple wearable arrive in the country.

The Huawei Watch 2 comes in three variants. Sports, Classic, and Sports (with 4G connectivity). The first two are merely a companion to your phone synced via Bluetooth. The Sports (4G) variant is a standalone device. it supports calling and messaging functionality. It takes a 4G VoLTE Nano-SIM card. The dual mics on it enable noise cancellation to improve the call quality. Some of the apps like Uber, Facebook can be used on the watch.

The Huawei Watch Sports variant comes with a plastic outer casing while the Classic variant gets a metal one. To keep up with the active types, these gadgets are dust and water resistant.

The wearables sport a 1.2-inch circular colour display with touch control. It packs in a 420 mAH battery. As per the company, it is good enough to last up to two days on a single charge. The watches run on Android Wear 2.0 platform, which is compatible with Android and iOS devices. Powering the wearables is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 2100 chipset.

The Huawei Watch 2 uses the inbuilt GPS sensors to keep a track on your activities. As expected, the device also features a heart-rate sensor. The Watch 2 features some presets such as ‘Fat burning run’ and ‘Cardio run’. It lets you play local music or stream it via third-party apps. These watches also respond to voice commands.

This watch is an auto Komandirskie -- it is intermediate between the Vostok Amphibia(n) proper and the Komandirskie proper.
It differs from the Amphibia in that the case is chrome-plated brass and not stainless steel. From the regular Komandirskie it differs in that it has a self-winding Vostok 2416B movement like the Amphibia does.




It is running at + 20 seconds per 24 hours but is consistent, and the chrome plating is not what it used to be -- it wears off quickly at points of contact.




Still rate it as a good watch overall.

Watch of the Day: Vostok Komandirskie 2414A

My watch of the day on May 11, 2015 was this Vostok Komandirskie 2414A manual wind watch which spent the entire 2014-15 winter at my country cottage (aka Dacha) and got its first (manual) wind in 2015 on Sunday May 10, 2015.



On a bicycle.



Also of note is the fact that I set a new max speed record on this 13-year-old cheap bike of mine... it's not too visible as the point-and-click predictably chose to focus on the grass, but it's still 32.5 km/h. I can (and will) do more though.
